The latest report on the industrial machinery industry
Overall Industry Operation Situation In 2024, the added value of the machinery industry above a designated size increased by 6.0% year-on-year, 0.2 percentage points higher than that of the national industry. By the end of 2024, the number of enterprises above a designated size in the machinery industry reached 132,000, an increase of 11,000 compared with the previous year, accounting for 25.8% of the national industry; the total assets reached 39.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.2% year-on-year, accounting for 22.1% of the national industry. In 2024, the total import and export volume of goods trade in the machinery industry exceeded 1 trillion US dollars for the fourth consecutive year, reaching 1.17 trillion US dollars, an increase of 7.5% year-on-year, accounting for 19% of the national goods trade. Construction Machinery Sector Sales Data: In February 2025, the domestic sales volume of excavators reached 11,640 units, a year-on-year increase of 99.4%, and the cumulative sales volume from January to February increased by 51.4% year-on-year. The monthly operation rate of the main products in the construction machinery industry in February was 44.6%, a year-on-year increase of 12.3 percentage points. Among them, the operation rate of excavators was 47.3%, indicating a significant rebound in the construction activity of downstream industries. Policy Support: Since 2024, 20 new national standards have been issued focusing on the electrification, intelligence, and green transformation of construction machinery. The 2025 Government Work Report proposed the addition of special government bonds and local special bonds to support infrastructure construction. The issuance scale of special bonds reached 596.785 billion yuan. Coupled with the 38 trillion yuan investment plan for key projects, it provides long-term support for the demand for construction machinery. Robot Sector On March 5, 2025, the Government Work Report proposed for the first time to "vigorously develop intelligent robots", and embodied intelligence was incorporated into the national strategy. At the local level, Shenzhen issued the "Action Plan for the Development of the Embodied Intelligent Robot Industry (2025 - 2027)", planning to open up more than 50 application scenarios to promote the comprehensive strength of the industry to reach an internationally leading level. Previously, more than ten provinces and cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, had introduced similar policies to accelerate the industrial implementation from the dimensions of technology research and development, scenario opening, and capital matching. Automobile Sector In the first two months of 2025, the production and sales of automobiles reached 4.553 million units and 4.552 million units respectively, an increase of 16.2% and 13.1% year-on-year. New energy vehicles played a crucial role. In the first two months, the production, sales, and export of new energy vehicles all increased by more than 50%. Equipment Manufacturing Sector In the first two months of 2025, the added value of China's equipment manufacturing industry increased by 10.6% year-on-year, contributing 54.6% to the growth of industrial production above a designated size. Among the 122 main products under key monitoring in the machinery industry, the output of 88 products increased year-on-year, accounting for 72.1%, reaching a new high. The pace of large-scale equipment renewal in the energy sector has accelerated. The production of products such as power generation equipment, power transmission and transformation equipment, mining equipment, and petrochemical equipment has increased significantly. In the first two months, the output of generator sets reached 40.56 million kilowatts, an increase of 66% year-on-year. The intelligent upgrading of traditional industries has been effectively carried out, and the development of new forms of productive forces has been promoted in an orderly manner. There is a strong demand and supply for high-tech products such as numerically controlled machine tools, industrial control systems, and robots. Data shows that in the first two months, the output of industrial robots exceeded 90,000 sets, an increase of 27% year-on-year.
